Governance

In 2011 the Victorian government Department of Education and Early Childhood Development provided Capacity Initiative Fund support for Lalor Living & Learning Centre to invest in developing its governance capacity. The Committee identified the need for external advice and support to review management and administrative systems in the areas of:

  • financial systems and practices
  • governance, including constitutional review, policy revision and training for Committee of Governance
  • reporting and compliance systems and practices
  • strategic planning in relation to the increasingly competitive context of the sector

The project funding ended in 2012 and supported the following outcomes, the benefits of which continue today:

  • revision of the association’s rules (constitution)
  • thorough revision of organisational policies and procedures
  • professional development for Committee members in their governance role
  • reconciliation of historical financial data and deployment of new accounting software and systems
  • deployment of IT equipment and software to support administrative processes
  • program costing & pricing models were developed
  • investment and training in VETtrak data system to support reporting and compliance to funding bodies
  • organisation-wide consultation and development of new Vision and Purpose statements
  • facilitation of opportunities to form partnerships with other organisations
  • review of accredited courses listed on our scope of registration with VRQA
  • development of new branding (logo) & marketing opportunities
